1. A DEBTOR IS COLLECTING

Unfortunately, Congress did not protect stimulus payments from collections from private debtors with the CARES act. If you do have a debt, there is a chance it could have been collected on or garnished. LUCKILY, back taxes owed won’t impact your stimulus payment.

2.YOU ARE BEHIND ON CHILD SUPPORT

The Treasury Department may withhold back child support payments from your stimulus if you owe.

3. YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROPER BANK ACCOUNT OR ADDRESS ON FILE WITH THE IRS

The IRS bases your stimulus direct deposit or check based on your last filing. If you have an incorrect address on file, you will need to file a change of address with the IRS. Forrest Tax can help you file this government form.

4.YOU FILED YOUR TAXES WITH H&R BLOCK OR A SIMILAR SERVICE
