Four Reasons that your Stimulus Payment is Delayed

Is your stimulus payment missing our delayed? We’ve got four reasons for you why that could be the case.

Looking to make a tax appointment? Let’s get started right now!

1. A DEBTOR IS COLLECTING

Unfortunately, Congress did not protect stimulus payments from collections from private debtors with the CARES act. If you do have a debt, there is a chance it could have been collected on or garnished. LUCKILY, back taxes owed won’t impact your stimulus payment.

2.YOU ARE BEHIND ON CHILD SUPPORT

The Treasury Department may withhold back child support payments from your stimulus if you owe.

3. YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROPER BANK ACCOUNT OR ADDRESS ON FILE WITH THE IRS

The IRS bases your stimulus direct deposit or check based on your last filing. If you have an incorrect address on file, you will need to file a change of address with the IRS. Forrest Tax can help you file this government form.

4.YOU FILED YOUR TAXES WITH H&R BLOCK OR A SIMILAR SERVICE

Unfortunately for some people who filed taxes with H&R Block, TurboTax and Jackson Hewitt, a glitch has prevented timely stimulus payment. It’s yet another reason to file with a local tax preparer who always has your best interest in mind–Forrest Tax!
