Ashley began preparing taxes in 2003 servicing military families. In, 2008 a Muskegon resident approached Ashley for her assistance with a Earned Income Tax Credit Audit, Ashley was hesitant however after hearing her story she had to help. Upon winning the EITC audit the client shared her experience with others, for month’s people arrived at Ashley’s home and a light bulb came on to find a location.
Through the years having clients come in and they were skeptical of me and the services that I provide due to previous bad experiences, with small businesses. However, not taking it to heart, and not allowing it to deter the way that I conduct myself. Then to see those same clients leave and they are happy and smiling and referring people to us, that is what I call excellence.
I take pride in taking my time with my clients to explain to them the services that they are receiving as well as what they are signing. I always show the clients how they can improve on and build upon what they already know.
I love to educate my clients whether it is income tax or accounting. Being able to show a family how they can save money the next year and possibly increase their refund. Or, showing a woman business owner how to fill out forms and make sure everything is up to Federal, State, and Local statues. Education of laws and the reasoning behind the record keeping is vitally important.
I also believe that in order to have excellence you must have excellent customer service; being available to my clients in the times that matter most. Whether it is taking a call after business hours, or opening the office because someone needs paperwork to make a deadline. I answer emails and text messages and phone calls whenever they come through because I want to ensure that they know we are available to them.
Excellence in knowledge means taking courses every year to ensure that my staff and I are current and up to date with the latest tax laws, payroll laws, etc. Researching and administering classes to my staff to ensure that they have the accurate knowledge to give to clients. We are constantly viewing webinars and researching the tax laws and new accounting principles. We stay up to date with the latest software and updates to ensure reports that we produce are of the highest quality.
I have a strong sense of community and have always ensured that my staff and clients are involved with the community as well. We stay on top of events that are happening in our community so that we can be apart. We want to ensure that the community knows Forrest Tax and more personally, Ashley Forrest is a part of the community and wants to see the community improve. I believe that a business who is not involved with their community is not a business who will survive.
Assisting/ Mentoring Small Business Owners
I support all business owners, however, being a woman makes me have a special concern for other woman own businesses, especially entrepreneurs.
I have several small business owners who are clients of mine. I have helped them to prepare and establish business plans. We have worked closely for approval of business loans, grants and even finding a brick and border. I offer clients mentoring from my own experiences as well as accounting and payroll needs. I am readily available to them for questions concerns and comments. It is not easy being a small business owner and we must support one another. Each step of the way I am there to support my clients. I rejoice with them as their dream comes true and cry with them when faced with adversities.
Other Memberships, Achievements, and Awards
Although Forrest Tax was my dream that came to life, I have not done it all by myself. I have been blessed to work with women and men who have put in their hard work, time, and effort to help my dream become a reality.
In the past, I have shied away from receiving any honors or recognition for myself. I have always felt as though I have all the recognition that I need to have my staff and/or clients receive recognition.

I hope you’ll forgive me for being blunt.
I am Ashley Forrest, I’m a Accountant and realize that you may not be used to seeing a tax professional talk like this. It’s not my intention to offend (I’m actually being very careful with my words–I am a tax professional, after all).
But I think you’ll agree that the times we’re currently facing require a little straight talk.
Here’s a certain truth: the State and Federal Government would love to have more of your hard-earned money in their accounts. Sure, even though it’s painful, none of us begrudge paying our legal and fair share of taxes. But the problem is that regular taxpayers, like you, are missing out on legal and safe deductions, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed refunds every year!
As a tax professional, it truly breaks my heart, knowing that just a few thousand, or even a few hundred bucks for us “regular guys” out of that vast pool of overcharging could make a world of difference–and they are just sitting there, unclaimed! And with the economy we’re facing now…it’s essential that the “right” professional handles your taxes and other financial matters.
You see, all tax professionals are not the same. From the “discount” chains (notice the quotes) to classic accounting firms, most fly through tax season in a disorganized mess–bleary-eyed and hopped-up on caffeine. It’s no wonder that they treat you like a number and lapse into excuses and tax-talk. (I told you that I would be blunt.)
